Easy Preparation of Red Berry Dog Biscuits

  1. Preheat the oven
While you prepare the dough, preheat the oven to 160 °C (fan-assisted). Your dog will probably already be waiting in the kitchen!
  2. Mix the dough ingredients
Add the egg, coconut oil, liquid and, for the Red Berry variation, strawberries, raspberries or blueberries to a bowl. Blend everything into a smooth mixture.
  3. Stir in the oats and flour
Now add your chosen flour and mix well until you achieve a spreadable consistency. If the dough is too thick, simply add a little more liquid, such as water, unsalted broth or coconut milk.
  4. Spread the dough into the baking mat
Use a dough scraper to spread the mixture evenly into the baking mat.
  5. Bake the dog biscuits
Into the oven they go! Bake at 160 °C (fan-assisted) for approx. 25 minutes, until nicely golden brown. Then remove the biscuits from the baking mat and dry them in the oven for 60 to 120 minutes at 50 to 80 °C, with the door slightly open. You can simply wedge a wooden spoon into the oven door to keep it ajar. Drying time may vary depending on your oven and baking mat. Check the biscuits occasionally to see if they have reached your desired consistency, and adjust the time and/or temperature as needed.
  6. Leave to cool
Even if your dog can hardly sit still any longer, the biscuits must cool completely before being served.
